Product Description

Shridhan HFS Series – Horizontal Mounting Magnetic Float Level Switches

The Shridhan HFS Series comprises Horizontal Mounting Magnetic Float Level Switches designed for high, low or intermediate point level switching in industrial tanks and vessels.

The HFS Series is particularly suited to tanks with inaccessible tops or bottoms and applications where the insertion depth of conventional top-mounted level switches is exceeded.

The switch uses a free-moving pivoted float assembly and magnetic repulsion to operate the switching mechanism. Dual magnets are used — one in the float arm and another in the contact carrier inside the switch enclosure. A change in liquid level causes magnetic repulsion and produces a changeover of the contacts with snap action.

The magnetic transmission is glandless, which the brochure describes as eliminating a leakage path from the vessel into the switch housing. HFS switches are available in different materials, enclosures and configurations for a broad range of media and applications.

How the HFS Series Works

The HFS Series operates using magnetic repulsion rather than a conventional direct mechanical transmission.

Component Function
Pivoted float assembly Moves with changes in liquid level.
Float magnet Provides the magnetic field associated with float movement.
Contact-carrier magnet Works with the float magnet through magnetic repulsion.
Switch mechanism Changes contact state with snap action as liquid level changes.

The switch enclosure is made from non-magnetic material to maintain the magnetic flux required for operation.

Installation Options

Installation Application
Internal mounting Direct installation inside the tank or vessel.
External chamber mounting Used when the switch needs to be installed outside the main vessel.
Side mounting Normal mounting arrangement for the HFS Series.
Top installation The brochure notes top installation as preferred for applications such as slurry.

External mounting can be used where space is limited or mechanical devices such as stirrers operate inside the tank. The brochure also describes external mounting for boilers and reaction kettles where isolation can assist regular servicing.
